Policies & Frequently asked questions
What is the lollipop? What are Aerial Arts?
The Lollipop is a round apparatus made of stainless steel, which is mounted on a vertical bar which is then attached to a weighted platform. Aerial Arts can be viewed as a fusion between acrobatics and dance that is performed suspended in the air on a variety of apparatus. Aerial is becoming increasingly popular in the US and many benefits have been seen by offering aerial training to the general population.
What kind of fitness background do I need?
There is no "base level" of strength nor flexibility required to start. Classes are categorized as Beginner, Intermediate, and Mixed Levels. See individual class descriptions for more information. All skill levels are welcome for private lessons.
What do i wear to class?
For the lollipop, fitted workout clothing that allows for free movement such as yoga pants or leggings are best. You will want fabric covering the backs of your knees and your waist to avoid friction burns (the hoop is wrapped in athletic tape). Please avoid any zippers, buttons, snaps, jewelry or anything that could damage equipment. For the sake of safety and sanitation, leggings or covered legs are required. If you show up without the proper attire, you will be asked to change. If you don’t have anything to change into, you will be unable to attend class and will forfeit your class credit. (Friction burns can cause broken skin and bleeding onto the athletic tape. Sanitizing blood from the tape causes the adhesives to break down, causing the tape to need replacing faster than it should.)
For the pole, you’ll want to wear shorts - ideally shorts that expose the skin on the upper thighs, but if you’re just starting out it’s ok to wear any shorts that offer freedom of movement and make you feel comfortable and confident. You’ll also want to wear a tank top or sports bra (if you have breasts).
What is the cost of class/do you offer membershps?
Due to the limited class size, memberships aren’t available. Class packs are offered at 3 classes for $55, 5 classes for $85, and 10 classes for $160. A single class is $20.
Do you offer gift certificates?
Yes! Gift certificates are available by request! Email velocity.by.v@gmail.com for details.
What if i need to cancel?
See cancellation policy below.
punctuality
Please plan to arrive 10-15 minutes prior to your scheduled class time and be ready to take class at the scheduled start time. Make sure you are properly dressed, have filled your water bottle, used the restroom, etc. before the scheduled start time. Doors open 10-15 minutes before class start time. Each class begins with a warm up to safely prepare the body for our workout on the apparatus. If you are not here on time, you are missing the most important part of class. Class starts promptly at the scheduled time. If you arrive after the time your class is scheduled for, doors will be locked and you will be unable to enter. You will be considered a "no show", and it will result in the loss of your class credit.
For classes or private lessons later than 6pm, you will need to enter through the door on the Higgins & Main corner of the parking garage. The main doors to the building will be locked and V will personally let you in. Doors will be locked at the start of class, no exceptions.
Cancellation
Due to high demand and limited class size, all class cancellations/reschedules require an 12 hour notice. No shows and late cancels will result in a class forfeiture. Private sessions require 24 hours notice. A class credit can be rescheduled twice before class credit is forfeited.
minimum attedance
Any class with less than 2 reservations may be cancelled due to low enrollment. The cancellation will take place 3 hours prior to the class's start time. If you have a reservation, you will be notified via text or email.
